Brilliant and Kind

Primary

3-6 years

The Primary program at Brilliant and Kind is a special experience for your child. It offers a chance to foster personal growth within the framework of a group environment and is intended for children between the ages of 3 and 6. The outcome? self-assurance, excitement, and a constant desire to learn.

Heritage Focused

At a very young age, our African-centered curriculum gives children the chance to discover the importance of community, empowerment, and the values of the African and African Diaspora cultures. This enables them to develop a better understanding and sense of self-assurance about their history and cultural heritage.

Child centered (not teacher centered)

The teachers at Brilliant and Kind are specially educated to pay close attention to your child's interests, tendencies, and needs, in contrast to traditional classes where all students are required to pay attentive attention to the teacher. The teacher will interact with your child or a small group at their level rather than standing in front of the class.

A mixed-age classroom

Your child can work at his or her own speed within a mixed-age classroom group thanks to the tailored, African and African Diaspora based curriculum. Our smaller youngster picks up knowledge by seeing the actions and activities of the larger kids. Setting an example for their younger companions helps our older children develop their sense of self-worth, leadership abilities, and responsibility.

The gift of choice

In both one-on-one and small-group courses, your child will be exposed to a wide range of ideas and activities. But the actual learning happens when they explore, investigate, practice, and perfect that activity at their own pace.

Hands-on materials

Your child will learn by practicing with the Montessori materials, which were created using scientific principles. Your child will gain a concrete comprehension of abstract ideas like literacy, mathematics, science, music and cultural awareness establishing a strong foundation for future learning.

Group activities and play

Even though self-directed work takes up the majority of the school day, there are still periods for play and group activities. A group may be gathered by the teacher for songs or storytelling about interesting historical, scientific, or cultural topics. Ample time is also allotted for running, gardening, exploring, and playing with friends in nature.

One size does not fit all

The teachers and Brilliant and Kind are educated to respect your child's individual potential and match him or her with the lesson most appropriate for that particular stage of development rather than using a top-down curriculum based on age. Your child won't be held to a uniform standard; rather, they will be challenged in line with their aptitude.

Kindergarten included

A Montessori education is a continuum that enables your kid to build on learning each year. During the typical "kindergarten year," when the seeds of academic and cultural learning are planted, your child will remain in the Primary classroom. Sounds and symbols give writing and reading vitality. The decimal system and numbers are explained while simultaneously gaining knowledge of geometries and the political systems of the world. Children graduate from the Primary Program with a solid foundation in academics, but what matters most is that your child has the mindset that learning is joyful, interesting, and limitless. They are now prepared to advance to the Elementary level, which is for students between the ages of 6 and 12.

“My nephew attends Brilliant and Kind and his math skills have improved in such a short time. I wasn’t familiar with Montessori schools before and I wasn’t sure how they were learning without a traditional class room setting but every day my nephew proves to me that children can learn through play all the time. I am so glad Brilliant and Kind is not too far from my house but even if it was I would make the drive to make sure he attends this school."

“I had my daughter at another school and I am so glad a space opened up at Brilliant and Kind. She actually likes being at school and has teachers and classmates that look like her. People always mention how she speaks very well for her age and how she loves to learn. I have a pretty demanding job and I can rest assured that my daughter is cared and is getting a quality education while I am away from her. If you get a change to enroll your child at Brilliant and Kind you will see the quality, you receive vs. others schools."
